Our preferences

This feels awkward to write.

In our previous adoptions, we had no preferences. Things like race and age and gender didn't matter to us. We wanted to be parents and we became parents. We have been so blessed with our children. Gracie came to us at age 6, Samuel at age 4, and Jeremiah at age 3. We wouldn't have changed that for the world. But this time around, all five of us want a baby. We've never had the baby experience and we want it. (Any baby that joins our family is going to be beyond spoiled.)

We can't wait for that magical newborn experience. The little noises they make and the sweet way they smell and that velveety, soft skin. Oh! Be still my heart (and my ovaries).

In addition to a newborn, we are requesting a girl. Since this will be our last child and we want to even things up. 2 boys and 2 girls will equal perfection. (Plus, Gracie really wants a sister.)

The last part of our preference is that she's full AA. Our other children are black and while they don't "match" their parents we believe for their sake, it's important they "match" one another. Especially since this is the last child for our family, we don't want her to be the odd one out.

We hope we don't sound awful for having these preferences but we feel strongly that we are missing a newborn AA girl in our family and we just won't be complete without her.
